Pros

Good benefits. 401k matching/profit sharing. PTO and sick time accrue early on

Cons

No room for growth unless you’re hired on as an MPTP. They claim they “develop their employees to their fullest potential” and promote from within they don’t. They’d rather bring someone from outside with no prior knowledge of the industry..

Pros

The company is family owned. They do seem to genuinely care about the team. It was a great place to get full sales cycle experience (prospecting, negotiating, closing). You can make a decent amount of money if you sell well and land some big deals. There’s decent work life balance and if you sell/meet your KPI’s leadership will leave you alone. I think for the linen industry Prudential conducts itself with the most integrity out of any company and is financially healthy. With that being said, there’s still a lot they could do to improve on (below).

Cons

The linen industry in general isn’t full of the best and brightest. With that being said, there are some people at Prudential that you watch fail consistently for years and create problems, but they are mysteriously never held accountable. A few of these people come to mind in both sales and operations. There is a “good old boys/girls” mentality here. Poor performers who are connected in senior level positions are immune from being disciplined. It kills morale. If you are in sales and don’t have a competent operations team you are going to have issues with any accounts that you do manage to sell. You may potentially lose them. The way the company is structured sales and operations aren’t incentivized to work together. There’s constant unnecessary politics. You can’t just get your work done and follow procedures and expect everyone else to do the same. There’s always special circumstances that normally do not work in your favor unless you’re well connected. Other competitors seem to get leads faster than Prudential and have a larger reputation. The company almost always refuses to innovate. Ownership has a mentality of “we’re making money so why change anything?” Systems and processes are out dated and all of senior leadership is resistant to change. The company makes a lot of money but could be making a lot more money. Competitors have the ability to sell products that Prudential refuses to touch. If you have a customer that needs something special Prudential will refuse to do it because they say it’s not profitable. Meanwhile, competitors take the same piece of business and are clearly making money on it. They rehire people that have left the company all the time. They also promote people, demote them, and then promote them again. It’s great to give people a second chance, but it’s almost like the company is too soft/lenient. Typically the company/leadership always take the easiest path of least resistance. Any time suggestions are made to change the status quo the company will come up with some reason why it’s not feasible. Most people just try to fly under the radar here and keep their jobs. Nobody really appears to be striving for excellence.
