Pros

Good pay; being able to help people deal with exposure to COVID-19 and quarantine

Cons

The management of this initiative, under PGC, is unbelievably bad. They hired hundreds and hundreds of warm bodies to do contact tracing without really screening them. Diversity is good, and the COVID-19 initiative is very diverse. However, hiring people with high school as their highest educational level and McDonalds line cook as their most professional job to date, without giving them extra training and support so that they can do their jobs properly, was and is a huge mistake. Early in the initiative absolutely unprepared people (e.g., no supervision experience, no educational background to speak of, no public health experience or coursework) were promoted to positions of authority that pay $45/hr!! -- and they've remained there, even though more qualified people were later hired now have to report to idiots. Manager-supervisors banking gigantic paychecks brag about new electronic toys and cars to the people working for them in absolutely unnecessary team meetings. The fact that we are working on an urgent public health issue is not reflected in the organization and management of the initiative. Instead of a serious meritocracy, it's a bunch of daily cheerleading by regional leaders ("You guys are amazing! You're part of a historic moment!") and taxpayer money being thrown up in the air.

Pros

- Work on meaningful public sector services - Clients are generally very hard working, dedicated public servants

Cons

- All of these staff feel undervalued both in money and support - Almost every POC on the human services and health teams have left in the past 2 years, would never recommend this company to any POC or anyone else for that matter

Pros

If you are hired on the right team, it can be okay for a little while. Grateful for the opportunity but very happy to have moved on.

Cons

If you do take a job at PCG, I would encourage you to use it as a launch pad to something else within 1-2 years, max. If you have another comparable offer, take it. I have somewhat negative opinions regarding compensation and benefits, culture, strategy and incentives, work/life balance, women's and diversity issues, leadership, management, HR, and company politics. I also have different morals and values than the firm and different goals for work in the public sector.
