Pros

Some of the people I worked with were great but that's about all I can think of. There really isn't much else.

Cons

Where to even begin? - Public Storage demands that its managers sell merchandise with every move in but offers no incentive whatsoever. The only reason to do so is to avoid being ridiculed in an email to all your peers. This causes very low morale at times. - Should you decide to work here, the Public Storage call center will become the bane of your existence. They are required to tell customers that the move in is $23($1 first month's rent + $22 admin fee). However, they fail to tell the customer that lock and insurance are a requirement which brings the total cost to $54 and some change. This causes a lot of unnecessary conflict with the customer. - Even though customers aren't technically required to buy a lock or insurance through Public Storage, managers are taught to lie and tell customers that they are. - Pay is abysmal and the work load can be heavy. Managers are required to maintain almost everything on the property and barely make more than minimum wage in return. - It's pretty obvious that most of the people in the corporate office have never actually worked in a property because they come up with schemes that make no sense whatsoever. - Repairs are sometimes nonexistent. Public Storage works with an outside maintenance company for repairs. It can sometimes take months or even years to get something repaired. Public Storage cuts so many and is so cheap that they will only repair something if they've been badgered enough about it. They make so much money annually but it all goes into the pockets of the corporate workers and doesn't go toward making properties functional. As a result, I'm fairly positive that a lot of things aren't even up to code. - There is virtually no way to move up in this company. For all the higher up jobs, the company hires people outside of the company. - Very few people are hired so you can expect to be asked to work on most of your days off. Don't believe any of the positive reviews on this site. Public Storage told their district managers to write positive reviews in order to outweigh all the negative ones.

Pros

Company has alot of assets and plenty of cash to spend. Its the largest self storage company in the world and one of the largest land holders as well.

Cons

The company will work you till you either quit from burn out or will fire you because you either can't keep up with the demands of the job or you don't want to continue with amount of hrs, emails, inter-department BS and overall stress of the position.

Pros

- Peers were supportive and helpful of one another even though they were extremely overworked, overwhelmed and overly stressed.

Cons

I have never worked for a company that lacked so much in integrity, ethics and respect. - Micromanagement occurs at all levels. District Managers are trained to micromanage their teams. I was told by my Regional to assume that when I walk into a property, to assume that everyone is lying, stealing or doing both so that I can dig into everything and catch their mistake. It is the worst possible way to engage, motivate and coach your team. - Lack of support for field team. Everything is escalated to the District Managers. From customer calls to IT issues to Facilities. - Monday through Friday does not exist as promised during the interviews. You are on call 24/7. I was harassed by text and email on the weekends upper management, for non-urgent issues. - Does not care for its people. Our CEO stated that we were puking cash as a company. Not too far away where property managers that are making minumum wage and have yet to receive their bonus that is several months overdue. -District Managers are held accountable for everything, even items outside of their control (like a new storage business opening near by with newer facilities and lower pricing but the pricing team would not lower pricing to be competitive as our facility is significantly older. DM would be held accountable for occupancy and revenue still.
