Pros

The hours are fantastic, and your coworkers will likely be decent. If you do the job right, you will meet and befriend a number of your tenants, especially if you are a Resident Manager.

Cons

This has to be the worst company I have ever worked for. The pay is horrid, about half what the industry median industry wages are. Also, they refuse to pay for upkeep on their buildings. I had to call OSHA after 2.5 years of complaining about the dangers of having NO LIGHTS at the Property when it is dark. I actually went and bought my own light meter and found over 75% of the property, including RIGHT in front of my Apartment Door, registered absolutely ZERO foot candles. A month after I anonymously filed a complaint with OSHA, all the lighting was repaired. What a sad reflection on a company that safety and security concerns are not enough to warrant repairs, only when they face fines for blatant violations of the law do they spend the money. Also, it takes a Manager actually filing a complaint to have this done. Most managers will not, especially in this Economic Environment, because Public Storage can fire you and have you evicted from your home on 72 hours notice. DO NOT WORK HERE!! I left them to go work for another Storage Company that actually pays a percentage of revenue as a bonus in ADDITION to the Residence and HIGHER PAY RATE.

Pros

We are a relatively small team for such a large company, which can make it easier to make a meaningful difference. You do still have to be willing to be creative and to work a bit to stand out. Public Storage also has a family feel at team birthday parties and holiday events. Even the CEO and other execs attend when they are in town. Our smaller, more efficient team also makes for a stronger profit margin and more stable employer, which means a lot to me.

Cons

Though I appreciate our structure and think it's efficient overall, sometimes having fewer peers can have drawbacks.

Worked here for 7 years. This is the worst company you could ever work for. Don't do it, and if you do, do not take an apartment. That's how the get you to stay. I'm going to be honest. I was contacted by HR to write a positive review on this site so "we can hire employees at your level" bull!!! I feel so bad for DM's They are expected to be on the clock 24/7. The pay is terrible and anyone with a positive review on here is either higher management or were told to write a good review by HR. You will be unhappy and ruin your life here. You will have to learn 10 scripts and get written up if you're not selling enough locks or insurance. They expect 85% locks and insurance but again we do not get any bonus or incentive on it. You will deal will customers complaining about things being broken and things will never get fixed because it will not help the stock. No one cares about low level employees even though we are the ones lining their pockets with money.
