You'll be a millionaire (if you last)

Pros

Good Profit plan. They give you approximately 8% of your earnings each year in company stock. Anybody with 20 years service is likely to be a millionaire.

Cons

Low pay. The limit on your 401k contributions is 10% . This works out to about 1/5 of the amount allowed by the government. I was a baker for more than 12 years and I ran all day every day and still they wanted more output.

Pros

Clean stores, loyal customer base, and (so far) stock is still purchased for full time and many part time associates.

Cons

No overtime allowed, No more bonuses, Few benefits for part timers, Decreasing benefits for full timers, Growing too fast, Untrained store level management, Tyrannical Corporate Level Managers with no sympathy for their employees. The pay isn't very competitive and with the removal of inventory bonuses (which even part timers got), there is no reason to choose Publix over other retailers. If you can get higher pay at Publix, go for it. However, don't expect respect, understanding, or even professionalism. New CEO (who gave himself a 56% raise, while effectively cutting all retail associate pay), new leadership, new rules, and less benefits.

Pros

Publix is a great company to work for and the benefits/bonus structure isn't too bad either. Stores are remodeled on a continuous basis so you always are around the corner from a refresh. Publix is trying hard to advance and keep up with the competition when it comes to the pharmacy. Programs are always implemented to add services to customers and to provide a better selection of offerings.

Cons

Implementation of some new programs has resulted in a decrease in tech hours allowed. This comes after previously being told by management that our programs will succeed where Walgreens failed because we won't be cutting tech hours. A year later, the cuts have begun. With an increase in services offered and customers, the cuts make getting all of the daily workload nearly impossible. Metrics have been increasingly focused on like other companies and have been used to discipline and move some pharmacists. Some supervisors may vary, but as the management structure in Publix has changed, it seems that the company wants to be like Walgreens and CVS in both the positive aspects, and the negative ones.
