Pros

QTS is, and continues to be year-after-year, a very fast growing company with a bevy of challenges that stress nearly every department. For the entrepreneurial type, this should smell like opportunity, career growth, attractive compensation, and the ability to make-your-mark on a company and industry. And it does!

Cons

For others who need constant guidance, structure, and limited change plus don't like being uncomfortable, QTS may not be right for you. If you don't embrace evolving, you will fall behind and be frustrated - guaranteed. Fortunately and unfortunately, everyone needs to pull their weight, and then some, to make it happen at QTS. It's not my job is not a viable option. But frankly, that's the secret sauce. The culture is so good, the family environment, the amenities, the benefits, the volunteerism, the stock plan, etc. that everyone wants to work together to achieve amazing results. And the do.

Wow - you've hit squarely on the many things that make QTS a unique and special place to bring our time and talents! You are right, we are not for everyone, and we strive to continue to make QTS a great place to work through our Employee Value Proposition (EVP) pillars of culture, growth and reward as well as with our Core Values, which we bring to life each day. Part of our interviewing and screening process is to ensure it's a good match on both sides - candidates interview us just as much as we assess fit on our side and we understand that we are not a fit for everyone! For those that thrive on growth and opportunities in a fast-paced, change oriented environment where you always have an opportunity to make an impact- we encourage you to come talk to us!

Pros

I would be lying if I said anything bad about the guys on my team but that was the only good thing.

Cons

Constantly hostile work environment, revolving door of employees. Upper management is cult like. Creepy place to work.

Former Employee, Thank you for your review. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed the camaraderie of your work team at QTS. With our 90% retention, hopefully more were staying than leaving! We take your comment about hostile work environment seriously; did you ever escalate your concerns to Senior Leadership or People Services so that we could have the opportunity to investigate the situation? We can’t solve anything we don’t know about and would welcome a follow up conversation so we can look into these matters. Employee Experience is a top priority and we want to address any opportunities for improvement. Paula Nelson, People Services

Pros

Data Center design and engineering are taken very seriously. They have a portal that provides an extreme level of detail for customers. Very prudent with site selection and buildout. Facilities are first class. QTS takes its data center design and engineering very seriously and is all in.

Cons

SALES MANAGEMENT!! Executive management tries to rule by fear. Philosophy is to tell everyone that they are not doing their jobs and threatening to fire everyone. 5 hour conf calls every few days to listen to management berate every individual region over every pipeline deal while the rest of the participants await their turn to be publicly criticized. Poor time management. Toxic culture. Unnecessary stress factor. Classic signs of narcissistic behavior stemming from insecurity. Also, cult-like pressure from management to write glowing reviews on Glassdoor and repost on your LinkedIn profile (and they monitor that stuff!!) Advice to sales - Keep an updated resume and accept invitations to meet w recruiters.

Thank you for your compliments of the teams within engineering and operations. We take great pride in delivering the best solutions for our customers. I appreciate the candid feedback on the sales culture from your perspective. As someone who does not particularly enjoy long meetings, and even 1 hour could qualify as such, I agree that 5 hours would be too long. I’m not aware of any meetings that last this long but will keep an eye out to make sure these are not occurring. We actually encourage posts to Glassdoor of any kind and you are a great example that proves people are free to post whatever they feel portrays their experience. Good or bad, we will read, reflect and attempt to learn. LinkedIn is a great vehicle for any corporation to market with and we do encourage QTSers to be active on the site. It’s not required and no one has ever pointed someone out to me that is utilizing the site either too little or too much. Again, your comments were noticed and we appreciate both the positive and negative viewpoints. We will certainly work towards ensuring that all of our employees feel welcome and respected and perhaps gain your trust again. Thank you. Clint Heiden CRO
