Pros

The networking opportunities, the discount and the schedule. It’s a great work life balance and the opportunity for tuition reimbursement. Mike George is a nice guy that you actually see in the halls and he speaks.

Cons

QVC has a major issue with diversity in both race and religion. 90% of senior management is white males. The other 10% is white females. In the merchandising department there are absolutely NO Senior buyers, Buyers, Associate buyers and Assistant buyers of color. There is only ONE merchandise trainee that is of color. This is a major issue because it creates a toxic environment for any person of color to adapt to. It’s 2018 it’s time to stop just saying you’re about change and start putting the action behind it. As of right now QVC is failing young professionals of color miserably.

Pros

The benefits for the company are really good and honestly, the job isn't too difficult. You answer phones in a call center environment and resolve the customer issues. You are also given a good deal of "gray area" to operate within, the policy being "make it right for the customer".

Cons

They have this point system in which you can only get 10 points over the course of a year (a year being the date you earn a point), and if you get 10 points, it is an automatic termination. You earn points for having to call out of work, and you earn them 2 at a time. Basically, unless you use your benefits (PTO and Unpaid Time Off) you can only miss 5 days over a year, it doesn't matter the excuse or reason, they do not budge. They want bodies in a chair. They also have unrealistic productivity goals. As a customer service representative, you are required to meet a handling time of 220 seconds. In order to come close to this goal, you are given just under 4 minutes to resolve any and all issues a customer is calling about. If you do not meet this, it is grounds for automatic termination. Lastly, most customers are just downright rude. It is to be expected that you will deal with unhappy customers, but 4/5ths of the customers you will deal with expect you to hand them the world on a silver platter, and will not take no for answer. QVC entitles their customers and they act like spoiled brats most of the time.

Pros

Competitive salary - depending on the required skillset Excellent benefits - very well thought out, great options Very nice discounts - especially at the Sample Store! Our CEO 'gets it' when it comes to what needs to be done to drive us up the ladder Co-workers are pretty awesome!

Cons

Three - YES 3 - reorgs in IT in 2016. That means three completely and very different reporting structures in 12 months time. That is a huge negative because it takes a few months to adjust to the personality and expectations of your 'new boss'. Trust me, there are many differences between them. How you aligned yourself with your previous manager a few months ago is very much not likely to cut it with the new one. Hence - a huge stressor! Due to the frequent restructuring of teams lately, which is designed to satisfy the recent OneQ initiative, QVC has lost a whole bunch of very talented IT folks. They're also not replaced and the workload they had is simply divided amongst others. There isn't any easy way to get here if you live out of state, travel time can be unexpectedly taxing. Overall, the commute is worth the cons, but it can be a real pain due to unexpected traffic/road construction/accidents, etc...things that are completely out of your control. The result is that who you report to tends to not be as understanding that life happens. Oh well... If you live certain states - such as NJ or Delaware - working remotely is very much discouraged (and not really allowed) because of income tax-related non-sense. Be sure to check the rules between your home state and PA so you know before accepting the position. This can be huge with your 'work/life' balance.
