Pros

Good benefits, pay was decent.

Cons

Phlebotomist a are expected to do the workload of 2-3 people and are now micromanaged, thanks to new procedures. Supervisors are of no help, and are unprofessional and unequipped to their job. Upper management is is like the wizard of Oz- a faceless entity that barks out orders behind a curtain. The company has time and money for propaganda and sales gimmicks like the "quiggles" device they spent tons of money on, yet they are laying people off left and right. If you want to be worked to death, to where your so burned out you can't remember your own name, then work for Quest Diagnostics. They'll finally let you rest when they lay you off after giving you 3 days notice.

Pros

Quest has enough subsidiary labs to where opportunities were once abundant. They are attempting to merge all of the labs into one working corporation.

Cons

They are currently restructuring, and IT has been taking the brunt of the layoffs. It is now an environment where everyone is looking over their shoulder for the next round of cuts. It seems they are outsourcing all of IT.

Pros

Combination of TOP - sick and vacation time is a huge plus. Decent programs to support healthy lifestyles. There are quite a number of great hardworking people here. The people are what drew me to stick around for so long...

Cons

Management cutting staff beyond the bare bones. I get that it's good to cut out the fat and non productive employees but the RIFs are letting go of good people and the non-value added employees are still around. The water cooler talk is that the new CEO is priming the company to be sold and old actions to date support this notion. Many competent, qualified, and loyal employees have either left or been left go via a RIF. Many of the middle management I have worked with are pretty much incompetent and have no idea of how to do their job or manage the people reporting to them. Most of the time, they are looking out for themselves and only got to their positions based on who they knew. That's probably the saddest part of all this...The work bees (L7) remaining are being led by people who CAN'T lead... The others mgmt folks just seem to go with the flow and stay quite. They either have little weight to make a positive change, stand up for the PRINCIPLE, or just no spines to do so. If you come across a great manager, consider them a gem...There is very few left willing to put up with the company or the environment. The Senior and executive leadership only look at the numbers. I don't believe they have a good sense of the business impact caused by these drastic cuts. The outlook looks to be very poor for the next 18-24 months for both employees and QDX customers. Lastly, employees are treated fairly poorly or downright unjust where it raises legal questions. Morale is super low...and with it, so is the productivity and collaboration across the business and I.T. teams.
