Pros

Fellow employees and staff are what make you stay. Pay is fair, but not the best. Benefits are all right. Only 5 paid Holidays a year.

Cons

They preach People, Patients, and Growth, half of what is taught by HR contradicts what is being seen by staff from management. Management leads by fear, micro-management, and very little compassion and people skills. I have heard unbelievable things said to employees. Staff is afraid to go to HR with things that are said or done. Even HR is full of fear.

Pros

The sales position is diverse and interesting . There are many aspects to closing a sale which with the proper support system on the inside, is very rewarding. Good Benefits.

Cons

Each Business Unit can be extremely different . Quest headquarters does not seem to be aware of significant problems at certain BU. The structure (or lack of) at certain lab units was difficult. Too much control between 1 or 2 upper management positions. To be successful in sales, you need to know much more than lab tests... once you figure it out yourself, you hope to have the support on the inside to complete the sale. Little regard to family/personal time for meetings, conference calls, etc. ex: (Sunday Feb. 14th 7:00pm conference call to introduce new upper mgt??) If the call is important, fine, but this sends a disrespectful message to sales. Not good judgement.

Pros

A decent environment; senior and supervisory staff are kind and understanding people. There are a fair amount of chances for promotions and professional advancement, however these must be worked for; they are not handed out. Excellent opportunities to get your own ideas and projects started via the "Green Belt" system.

Cons

Because most workers are considered "essential personnel," we must be at work at ALL times, rain or shine. Quest Diagnostics is open 24/7 and 365 days a year and because of that, attendance is very important - it can get tough if you get sick easily or like to take time off. Although transfers and promotions opportunities come up often, they can be relatively hard to acquire without an outstanding (and extensive) history inside the company.
