Great place to work

Pros

When I was there, admittedly before the economic bust and several rounds of layoffs, it was a great place with a very collegial atmosphere, a good team spirit, and lots of perks. They really made it clear that they cared about their employees.

Cons

The primary reason I left was the nature of the work - online media/marketing on behalf of for-profit universities is not exactly saving the planet or doing good in the world. I left to do something more meaningful. I was also unpleasantly surprised to hear the CEO say that he didn't consider corporate/social responsibility to be a necessary or even desirable goal for the company, beyond the handful of charities for which they did some limited employee matching.

Great to work for ... but

Pros

- great company culture, people are really willing to help and teach you - office politics are pretty minimum, i think young people account for that - a lot can be learned, quinstreet pretty much does everything that has to do with online marketing/advertising - even though there is a lot of work, the atmosphere is relaxed

Cons

- the technology is so terrible, that when you really want to get something done, you can't because there is a technical issue and it inhibits your learning and growth - some people here are extremely underpaid and overworked, and these underpaid people know how much other people are getting paid - this is why people leave, not because it's a bad place to work, but because there's hardly anyone up top you can actually admire - layoffs are happening on a monthly basis, so if you're not at least pretending to work hard, you're gone - stock isn't worth anything, don't count on getting your bonuses - you're constantly led to believe you work at a great place that is unlike anywhere else, full of advancement and potential etc., but that is dependent only on who you know and which department you work in
