A place to work.

Pros

No frills company - rarely attend superfluous soft meetings. Great place to work out of college. I work on a great team and really like my manager.

Cons

Low pay, cheap company: Starting salary was low for a technical job in the SF Bay Area. I've now been at QS for 1.25 years and haven't received the raise/promotion we are promised after a year, yet my responsibilities and duties have skyrocketed the last 3 months. Didn't give out stipends for WFH supplies, wouldn't even buy me a travel monitor. Not sure where all the budget for Halloween parties and DayAways went, but it sure didn't go to helping out employee productivity. Exploitative treatment of the summer interns: Interns were supposed to work for three months and then get hired. Internships were "extended" for a few months, during which we worked hard to train our intern to operate semi-independently. Found out that we won't be hiring them all after all due to a COVID related "hiring freeze". If you check the QS website, we're *definitely* still hiring right now. The whole thing feels shady, dishonest and disappointing. Company as a whole has no culture: What little culture we did have took a nosedive during COVID. We have a monthly trivia game and a company-wide email, that is IT. QS has never been one of those warm-and-fuzzy tech companies, but at this point I am just interacting with names on a screen every day. I have a personal/non-work relationship with literally 1 person. QS should have a Hackathon, make some funny slack channels, ANYTHING.

Pros

-QuinStreet is composed of a lot of great people. It's the only company I've left where I've continued my friendships with my peers afterwards. -An okay place to start out if you don't know anything about digital advertising/marketing.

Cons

-The majority of their tech stack and platforms are built in house, meaning you won't have exposure to many technologies that other companies use. This makes growth hard to come by, especially if you are planning to one day leave the company. -The CEO and Directors of the company continue to hold on to verticals that are dragging the rest of the ship down. Time to drop those businesses and actually focus on the verticals that are profitable for QuinStreet! The stock would likely increase if this happened. -The organization does little to provide employees with growth or learning opportunities. A LinkedIn learning account is not a suitable substitution in my opinion, it's doing the bare-minimum. -Hoping of making six-figures at QuinStreet? It's not going to happen for many, many years. They love to hire young people straight out of college, then burn and churn them.

Pros

If you are fresh out of college, it's something to put on a resume.

Cons

They talk about being a meritocracy, but it's a total lie. The president openly promotes a culture of favoritism to such an absurd level. It does not matter how many hours you put in, how much work you complete, how many roles in addition to your own you have to assume when they lay off people on your team (and they will), how good the quality of your work is. She WILL ignore your existence and heap all the credit on her personal favorites. Even if they put in 6 hour days while you put in 10, if they claim something is too much of their time, it'll be taken off them and dumped on you. Then there is an accounting and sales ops team that stymies your ability to get anything done in a timely manner. Directly hurting business in your vertical. Yet, the CEO sings their praises. Account managers are there for 5+ years, work 30 hour weeks, refuse to get better or learn and get rewarded for it.
