Pros

I was a senior site-based IT support guy and had a really good experience. There was not too much overtime, on-call weeks happened only 4 times a year or so, and I felt really supported by my manager and supervisor. Also the Site IT structure, as an organization, I felt was really well run.

Cons

Not really a con per se, but companies of RRD's size absolutely rely on procedure and protocol for getting things done. SLA's are at stake and life is much easier if one knows the procedure and then follows it.

Pros

Pay was certainly good, and the company is quite large. Despite some departments downsizing, others were growing and prevented quite a few skilled labor positions from being eliminated.

Cons

Management and the corporate culture is simply bad. This company is a majority employer in the area and it used to be a respected place to work. Management simply killed it, and the culture is one of fear and "at least you have a job" types of attitudes. Poor management decisions created even more unqualified managers and has turned the company into a sinking ship trying to stay afloat in a dying industry. Benefits regularly decreased. Pension dropped, 401k options diminished, and health benefits that rival non-group coverage.

Pros

A miserable paycheck and strip clubs a short distance away.

Cons

Benefits are horrible, management is a joke (many attend or attended online for-profit universities and it shows), many employees have left due to ridiculous and ever-increasing workloads. R.R. Donnelley is the same CGX/TSSG garbage truck except with new stickers. Truth be told, much better jobs can be found in the Houston area; don't settle for mediocrity.
