Pros

Admins have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects. Hard workers will have ample opportunity to hone and learn skills.

Cons

Few advancement options for admins, strict project-based timekeeping system that doesn't reward efficiency, modest yearly pay increases for even top performers.

Pros

Excellent value for work-life balance, staff may use sabbatical time and proximity to Santa Monica beach was wonderful.

Cons

Those within the Finance Mgt team have been employed for many years so it can appear clickish. I was disappointed for the lack of African Americans at the RAND Corporate office (specifically in leadership roles). It seemed that the majority of those African-Americans were temp employees which leads me to my final con about RAND- their use of hiring temp employees. I don't know if their practice of temp employees actually leads to onboarding temps as permanent. I understand the direct hire process is overly complicated and time consuming. The direct hire process and the drawbacks of temp employees makes employment at RAND elusive.
