Pros

-$280/month for public transit, pre-tax and completely employer subsidized -incredible coworkers and a strong sense of community among employees -working with outdoor gear, getting people into the outdoors -REI runs an effective nonprofit and is politically engaged regarding access to and preservation of outdoor spaces

Cons

-REI continues to retaliate against union employees by cutting pay and hours (illegally in some circumstances) -Management is unaware of labor law and will frequently violate it, even after being informed by employees -Many employees experience inconsistent scheduling and are not notified before an extreme drop in weekly hours -Upward movement is much more difficult if you express support for the union and labor organization. -management is incapable of performing many specialized duties, and will do them incorrectly anyway creating much more work for employees.

Pros

- Good work-life balance - Remote/Hybrid Work - Killer discounts - Culture is very outdoorsy and its reflected in the people that work here - People are genuinely nice here - Very social culture (although could be a bad thing if thats not your thing) - Laid back environment - Flat hierarchy culture - Profit sharing

Cons

- Terrible place to grow your career. People work here to coast in their careers - None of the senior managers here are impressive. Very lacking compared to other companies i've worked at - Culture that promotes lack of accountability - "Go further together" is taken too far which impedes progress - Culture is too laid back. More people need to have backbones here and push things forward despite disagreements - Lack of standardization and runs like an inefficient startup

Pros

Discount on gear is about the only perk. If you can afford anything in what they pay.

Cons

Everything. Pay sucks. Management sucks.
