Pros

* pay – pay is slightly above market rate. Based on my conversations with other developers, you can expect 100K or so if you're mid level (3-5 years experience). Big bonus at the end of the year as well. * vacation - 15 days your first year. Another great thing about the engineering dept is that if necessary, you're allowed to take a month or two off and go travel or learn a new skill. Management is very flexible and understanding.   * employee discount – wholesale price on pretty much anything on the site. Revolve has very fashionable clothing/accessories, so if that's your thing, you're really gonna like it. I didn't really see many developers take advantage of it though. * flexible hours - you can start work anytime you want. * high employee caliber - my coworkers here have been knowledgeable, always willing to discuss designs/algorithms/strategies, and ready to help out if you're stuck. There are some quirky characters, but that's nothing new in an engineering dept.   * work/life balance - you work 40 hours a week. It's rare that anyone does overtime, so if you have a family, Revolve will be perfect for you. Also, if you finish your work before the end of your sprint, which happens here and there, you're free to do whatever you want. Some developers choose to just browse the web, chat, go to the coffee shop, or just call in sick. * huge growth - Revolve is growing at a phenomenal rate. Their revenue is 7 figures each day and the number of employees continue to grow. If you simply do your job, the chance of growth within the company is very high.

Cons

* workplace – you will be working in a warehouse. Although the artifical walls do help, noise is a concern. Most developers put on earplugs/headphones. * work - Revolve uses Model 1 JEE architecture, which is as simple as it gets. The design is intentionally simple, and as a byproduct you won't work with the latest MVC framework, but you'll always have free time to explore them if you want to. On the positive side, you can be productive rather quickly, since you'll have an easy time understanding the code base (a few months usually).   * no formal QA process – this was the first company I worked for where the code was being pushed to live without any formal testing process. The philosophy is that developers are then forced to write better code, and indeed I do see very high quality code with little errors. It forces developers to think about the requirements and produce the best algorithms for the task at hand.

Pros

Revolve is a strange company, from first glance it has a very “start up” feel, they tell you about how they get free lunches on thursday and that there is always beer on tap. They have cool hangout area in the center with magazines and couches, couple that with cool co-workers and a deep discount on merchandise and it gives you the illusion that the company cares about you.

After a few weeks/months at revolve, you will begin to notice the true nature of it. Most of the “free” things are just selling points to justify the poor pay structure. I would much rather get paid more and buy my own lunches and beer. Its all their to provide the illusion that the company cares for its employees, they even go as far as say they have an open door policy, but HR is powerless to affect any real changes.

The grunts are expected to work extended hours and even during the weekends, but there is no real motivation to do a good job because moving up is nearly impossible. The pay raises are pathetic and not worth staying for a review, this company is only good if you're just starting out and just need somewhere to be for a year to get experience.

They can't hold onto their good employees and dont care to. If you have any qualities of a go getter, revolve isn't for you, ambition and good work ethic isn't valued here and you best work somewhere else.

From my personal experience, when I quit revolve to work at a new company, the company said I was the first person in their 2 months of looking to meet the high standards they required. I got paid nearly double, our lunch meetings are at restaurants (well over the $5 limit revolve sets for its free lunches per person), the company takes us out to baseball games and trips to vegas. We have a better medical plan and 401k up to 8% matching. We get better vacation options and sick days too.

The cons? the new company doesn't have as cool employees, we dont have revolve and forward’s sweet discount (just keep contacts and use their discounts), and we dont have get free beer, but if you're getting paid more at ANYWHERE else (maybe not forever 21) you can meet your friends after and get a beer. Easy Peasy.

Pros

Can not think of any

Cons

Stay away from this place. They do not care about their employees, and you will be just a number to them. You may think because it’s remote, it will be laid back. Nope, the complete opposite. Mandatory overtime everyday. When training they said there would be some overtime sometimes. Working here feels like you are working black friday, everyday. It is overwhelming and you are handed unattainable expectations. They expect you to respond to a chat within 2 seconds while talking to multiple people at a time along with doing a hundred other things is one example. It is hard to get information from management and HR, and protocols aren’t clear. Management isn’t transparent with employees, acts secretive, and no one knows what is going on. They are consistently misleading. They say you will be able to x after y amount of days being employed, and it never happens. PAY is LOW! Especially for the amount of work you are being asked to do, and especially for how much money this company makes! You are constantly being berated by customers(mostly rich and entitled people) for mistakes made by other departments. Instead of fixing these problems and quality control issues (and because of this they are slammed with customer service inquiries), they just hand more work for their customer service to deal with. Micromanaging!!! Equipment I was given was consistently not working properly. Super high turnover rate. Almost all employees I trained with had quit within a short period of time. I would also not recommend shopping here because of how overpriced it is for the quality you are receiving..
