      Good place to temporarily visit, but don't make your career here

      Pros

      Good place to gain experience in variety of fields.

      Cons

      Must become an expert to go anywhere. Employees are undervalued. Bad managers are promoted simply because they can win grants, not because they are any good at leading people.

      Pros

      RTI has been a great place for me to grow my career. The people are great, benefits are second to none and work life balance is supported all the way up to the CEO.

      Cons

      RTI used to be a place that truly cared about its people above everything else, but with the current growth strategy, it is obvious that we are taking a back seat to the bottom line. In addition, they have made some questionable leadership hires in the last few years that speak strongly to their preference for results over respect and their general lack of concern for how people are treated by leadership. There's lots of interest in newer, younger, cheaper folks and less concern for the non-millenial generations who have given their heart to this place and who truly keep the business running day in and day out. I feel I am becoming a statistic more than a respected asset and it's a trend I see across many areas of the business.

      Turning knowledge into practice. Improving the human condition.

      Cons

      CIO is toxic. Unrelenting, unforgiving, and pompous. No tolerance for differing opinions. His philosophy has made so many leave.
