Smart folks, pays well, cool place to be

Pros

* Pay is very competitive for digital consulting + Northern Virginia area * Benefits are very comprehensive and 100% paid for * Fully remote if that's your thing for most positions * They hire a lot of really smart folks, tons of people who are SMEs at what they do * They do try to value engineering first * Generally great work-life balance (depends on contract but my experience was good)

Cons

* Can feel like you're in a silo depending on your contract, can be hard to feel like Raft employee vs. a member of whichever customer you're with * Advancement path is still in flux, new system in place rolled out this year

Fun work / great people / excellent benefits

Pros

The people inside Raft are truly fun (and smart) to work with. Raft prides itself on its culture, and you feel that. Nearly everyone is remote, and everything is geared around supporting remote-first work. From team online office hours (2 hours twice a week, come as needed) to bi-weekly "all hands" updates (the entire company in a single 30-minute meeting together), you never feel isolated or alone. Everyone in the company communicates async over Mattermost. I get barely any email, and that's a good thing. There's freedom to explore any wild ideas you may have, contribute to OSS, attend/present at conferences, whatever interests you. Just get stuff done and speak your mind. The benefits are extremely competitive. Fully paid healthcare. Company matching 401k. Annual budget for any tech gear you want, as well as conference attendance (bonus for presenting) and continuing education. It's almost as if one of Raft's goals is to just get you whatever you need, so you can focus on doing creatively amazing work. If you want to work on hard problems with like-minded people in an open and honest environment, this is a great place.

Cons

Hard to list any, all things considered. I suppose if 100% remote work is not ideal for you, that could be a con. But if that's the case, this might not be the job for you.

Pros

Raft truly lives by its values. Its' full of people that love what they do, that support each other, and stand by each and every employee even (and especially) in the rough seasons. I've never felt so supported and appreciated by a company.

Cons

No cons so far. Every problem has been worked though and resolved by and with management. I'lll never been left out in the cold so to speak.
