Fun place to work. Good perks. Nice office and environment. Transparent executive team.

Cons

Limited upward mobility for coordinator level positions in Content. Pay is at par with publishing industry, not tech industry for those working in Content.

We’re happy to hear you think we’re doing things well! Our transparency as a company and our office culture are some parts of Kobo we’re most proud of. Employee development is always a priority for us as well and as you know, we’ve been making great progress in this area of late. We will continue to invest in this space and encourage you to partner with your manager and HR to find ways that we can continue to support you.

Thanks very much for your feedback, we really appreciate you taking the time to tell us what you think. Training and development are a top priority for Kobo and we actually just launched a new mentorship program! It’s currently in a pilot phase and will officially go live later this year, so keep an eye out for more details. This is just one of the initiatives we have underway to continue to make sure we are supporting our employees in their development. Be sure to chat with your manager and/or HR about your development goals and don’t be shy if you have suggestions on what else you think we can do! We completely agree with your suggestion to give more opportunities to internal candidates and in fact, you may have noticed more internal moves cross functionally over the past few months!

Pros

Fun people to work with, interesting challenges, company offers some good perks like extra long weekends over the summer, offsites, free food/snacks on Wednesdays, and overall work culture is relaxed and progressive

Cons

Management ran company off a cliff in 2014 and had to dig it's way out. Many employees let go in 2014 as part of restructuring to fix budget problems. The ship seems to have been righted.
