Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with us. We are sorry to hear your impression of Rakuten Kobo’s management and feedback review process are not to your liking. We continue to frequently encourage all employees to share their feedback and suggestions through our multiple channels, from our company-wide Pulse Check surveys to Rakuten’s Organizational Health survey. We also highly encourage employees to escalate any issues they are having through a variety of channels, including: speaking directly with their managers, speaking to the Employee Experience team, using Rakuten’s anonymous hotline, and by responding to the Ask the COO email managed by our Americas Chief Operating Officer. We value and review every employee’s input and continue to work to make Rakuten Kobo a great place to work.

We appreciate the kind words about our people and employee perks however we do want to discuss your call-outs in regards to pay and promotions. At Rakuten Kobo, we review employee compensation against external benchmark data at least annually to ensure we remain competitive in the market. We look at total compensation - base, bonus and Rakuten stock options (which are Full Value Stock Awards). Also, we encourage all team members to discuss their career goals and learning development plan with their manager during the mid year and/or year end review.
