Pros

Good teammates. Good opportunities to learn new technologies. Decent benefits. Good opportunity to learn business.

Cons

Below market salary. Below market benefits. (Max 401k match is 1000K, doesn't matter how much you contribute. Profit sharing and ESOP are NOT fixed and not guaranteed. HSA contribution is only 750 by employer and no additional perks) Company culture is changed dramatically in last 5 years. "Favorite" people are promoted and others are ignored, at the end they would get frustrated and leave the company. No opportunities for vertical growth! In 2021, there was no hierarchy for an individual contributor past Senior Software Engineer. Unless you want to be a people manager, you will not have any chance of vertical growth!

Pros

Decent co-workers, some fun projects, good place to learn and move on.

Cons

Good 'ol boy network, a bunch of the managers have been there for decades and go drinking or boating together on weekends, if you are not part of that group expect to have a hard time. Promotions are rare and usually go to buddies. You will be over worked called on weekends and evenings. You will be underpaid, and the benefits are poor compared to the rest of the industry (especially health insurance). No stability, Financial Advisors are all the company cares about, as IT you will be the first to be let go in hard times. The politics are thick, especially among management. Team infighting is the norm. Yes men/women are preferred.

Pros

Nice campus with two cafeterias, health clinic, and state of the art gym.

Cons

Raymond James IT is plagued by an archaic corporate culture. Think 1990s. Management is composed of people that have worked there for way too long and therefore have little to no clue as to what goes on in the world of IT outside of RJ. This management pushes lots of unnecessary meetings, red tape and redundant policies that make work productivity and efficiency very difficult. Regardless, you are expected to keep up with high workloads and ever changing demands which cause you to work long hours creating a very poor work life balance. So if you like to work long hours and do lots of paper pushing, working in Raymond James IT is the place for you.
