Poor culture and low morales

Pros

There are people who exhibit the culture the company preaches, but they tend to not be in management roles and are far and few in between.

Cons

Some Middle/Senior leadership is disrespectful, dismissive, inconsiderate, and manage/lead with fear based tactics that create anxiety and distrust. Most folks in Operations are petty, defensive, passive-aggressive and judgmental. Human Resource department does not support employees or seek to provide/communicate solutions. Management will make your life difficult if they do not like you, even if you do your job well and take on others' work. Training is lackluster and sink/swim mentality. Procedures are outdated. Held accountable for everything even when no training provided.

Pros

Decent pay, good benefits

Cons

You are just a number, unless you are a financial adviser. They dont care about the little people in the office that work hard and make the office run and donall the harf dirty work, so the financial advisors can take all the praise and benefit. If you are just a client service rep. You are nothing. Management is two faced and lies qhen you go to them for help. They dont care about your family life and you are punished and criticized if your kids are sick. Absolutely overbearing, judgemental and critical of everything you do. Management makes you think they are on your side but turn their back on you and only care about the advisors and revenue. Advisers talk bad about their clients and say things like "he dont have enough money for us to fool with taking him on". All they care about is the people that have a lot of money for them to make their commision. They smile and are friendly and put on a mask to their clients.

Pros

Corporate headquarters in St. Pete seems to have the culture that the company tries to convey to it's employees and the market. Pretty flat management, easy to contact the head of departments Great firm research, widely respected in industry.

Cons

Poor 401k/retirement benefits for financial services industry. 401k match is small, profit sharing is nice, but funds are held in an opaque company managed account, removed from your own investment selections. Retirement benefits geered towards the FA's, not to those that support them. Very little work-life balance. Lack of team atmosphere, everyone in a branch is their own silo and information is not shared for the betterment of the office or company. No training for employees. I've seen some phenomenal people come and go, once they realize there is no training or support for them, they are dumbstruck and look for the exit. Lack of training for managers seems to be a big issue. Almost all management come from an FA background which is the main cause for the silos, as their fellow employees are direct competitors. Technology is always promising something better is around the corner and yet during my 3+ years, I have yet to see an introduction of products offered that were spoken about when i started. A "Taker" culture is quite prevalent among the office. People expect to take more from you then you'll ever receive, which is a horrible feedback loop for an office environement. I point this out as the company prides itself on it's Customer first culture. This mentality is counter to this.
