Pros

The people you work with are great.

Cons

The company is trying to go public again. They are looking to do anything they can to cut costs and appear in a better financial position. They are also currently being investigated by the FBI and DOJ. Their AI revenue management service is being linked to rental price inflation in large markets where up to 80% of the marketing is using the service. One of their largest clients Cortland Management was raised by the FBI due to potential collusion with others who use the service in their markets. While these things are happening, the CEO announced that 4% of the company will be laid off as of July 1st. Can't help to think its all related. Internal promotions have slowed down considerably or stopped completely. If you have thoughts of advancing your career within a organization, this is not the place for you. There is re-orgs constantly making it next to impossible to know what's going on. For a company that prides itself on being 100% remote, they are unwilling to provide adequate pay for those who living in more expensive areas in the country. They are constantly demanding more and more from their employees while doing nothing to reciprocate and show gratitude for the hard work. Culture is lacking. You may be on a cool team, but overall its a every man for themselves attitude.

Pros

Somewhat decent pay and pseudo "appreciation" for employees i.e. pizza parties and contests with prizes.

Cons

You are just a number and not a person and you will be treated as if you are expendable.

Thank you for your post. I noticed the red outlook and wonder why and if you are working with your manager to make it better. Lets talk about the the advice. 1) we are not forcing anyone to come back to work 2) We are voluntarily coming back to work in three shifts to practice social distancing over three weeks. 3) Once we understand this phase we will be welcoming more employees to come back to the office, 4) We will be allowing employees who have a proven track record of being productive while working from home to have this consideration when warranted. 5) Employees who have struggled with productivity while working from home will be asked to return back to the office.

Not a good company to work for

Pros

After over 3 years of working at this organization my pros list includes: consistent job, decent facilities, decent employees at certain levels.

Cons

Leadership here starting from the very top has absolutely 0 care for the employees, their well-being, morale, or really anything. Time after time I felt that the company was looking for ways to make my time at the company as bad as possible for their own gain. The company does try to make itself perceive as a good company, but do not be fooled. Turnover is very high, workload is very high, politics is very high, work-life balance is very low, care from leadership is very low, overall I would be very weary. Additionally, the company is extremely stingy. They avoid costs for normal job functions like the plague. I understand that you are trying to create efficiencies, but a good environment does need company investments if you want a talented workforce. It’s hard to call work amenities “perks” if the employees are to pay for all of them... Benefits are below standards, PTO is below standards, bonus, stocks, etc. is below standards.

Thank you for your post. I 100% agree with your last statement. Treat others how you would like to be treated. Fortunately that is more the norm as over 80% of the company responded positively about being treated with respect on the last engagement survey. Unfortunately, that was not the feeling you had in your work group and I understand how that can be discouraging. You are obviously entitled to your opinions but some of them don't line up to the facts. Turnover is not high and is less in 2018 than it was the previous years. Our benefits are competitive, so is PTO. We just benchmarked our base, bonus and equity programs against the Radford data bases and found base and bonus to be at the median to the market and the equity plans were closer to the 75th percentile to the market. Work place perks that have to be paid for is a stretch. We subsidize a great cafeteria to keep prices down, covered parking is provided free for everyone. We have a full gym with personal trainers, that includes a towel service and it is just $10 a month. Starbucks is in the building and is exceptionally busy. You are right to say that employees are a vital part of any company and they need to feel that way. I sincerely trust that wherever you landed you will find that work environment that meets your needs. Wishing you nothing but the best. Sincerely Kurt Twining
