Pros

Incredible culture - collaborative & fun! Incredible to be a part of a fast-growing organization -- making a defined impact in the aesthetics industry and destigmatiz-ing societal views of cosmetic services.

Cons

SO MANY CHOCOLATE COVERED ALMONDS. (That's really a pro.)

Pros

Smart, thoughtful, talented people as far as the eye can see. Thoughtful commitment to product and user experience that drives all decision making. Generous and genuine care for team members & their families. Core values are not just talked about, they're demonstrated in small and large ways. I've worked in scrappy startups in the past where I had autonomy over most processes and decisions, which all sounds great but in reality is very lonesome. I didn't know how lonely it actually was until I came to RealSelf, and now have an opportunity to go to work each day with truly intelligent, thoughtful, and committed people. I have never been so thrilled to go to work every day. At the end of the day, I don't want to go home.

Cons

Our current office is next to the stadium, which occasionally results in rowdy sports fans outside in the evening, including soccer which I don't get at all. What a boring sport. I like baseball and football though.

I agree our current location has **energy** on game days. I'm amazed by how much Pioneer Square has changed in just the 12 months since we moved into the neighborhood. Food trucks, new restaurants, live music in Occidental Park. As we grow and consider new office space we'll take into consideration commutes, nearby amenities, and of course, distractions. Locations outside of Seattle will also be carefully evaluated.

Pros

Like Soylent Green, it is people. Smart, engaged, active. But the recipe is more than people. Its helping. Helping bring transparency to a topic that isn't always openly discussed. Helping providers grow their business and helping people around the world through the various charitable activities RealSelf is engaged in.

Cons

For some, the subject matter can be difficult to get into. As you begin to understand the consumers and why they are on the site, thinking about the service we provide to people who have few other resources, you realize how important this mission is. We help people make some of the most important decisions one can make - what to do with and to your body.

I'll admit that I had to google "soylent green" before responding. 100% agree it's the people. I share your view that being mission-driven is what's unique about our company and team. The path each person on our team takes to our mission is unique, which may be aligning with Rich Barton's "Power to the People" mantra, or the giving back work we're doing locally and internationally.
