Pros

1. I take pride in working for a company that’s been around for decades and is the leader in the packaged ice industry. Being part of a recognized name gives me confidence in the stability of my career. 2. Our product is essential, and that gives my role purpose. Whether it’s for grocery stores, restaurants, or emergency needs, I know the work my team and I do keeps communities supplied with something they rely on every day. 3. One of the best parts of working here is the opportunity to grow. I started at a tier 2 facility and worked my way up to Plant Manager of the Hub, and I’ve been able to mentor others who are moving up the same way. 4. The teamwork at the plant level is outstanding. Success depends on every department — production, maintenance, delivery — working together. As a manager, I get to see firsthand how collaboration turns challenges into achievements. 5. I enjoy the hands-on nature of this role. It keeps me engaged, from overseeing equipment and safety practices to troubleshooting production challenges. No two days are the same, and that makes the job both rewarding and dynamic.

Cons

1. Work can be very demanding during peak seasons like summer and holidays, but those times really bring out teamwork and show what we’re capable of achieving under pressure. 2. There’s a lot of responsibility in managing production, especially when unexpected challenges pop up, but it keeps me sharp and constantly improving as a leader. 3. The role is very hands-on, and while it can be physically and mentally draining some days, I enjoy that it keeps me active and engaged instead of sitting behind a desk. 4. Turnover does happen in this industry, but it also gives me the chance to coach, train, and develop new team members, which is rewarding when I see them succeed. 5. Because ice is an essential product, there’s little room for error. That pressure can be tough, but it also gives me a sense of pride knowing the work we do is important and dependable for our customers.

Pros

Opportunity for growth expanded learning and interdepartmental movement if desired. I have seen people be promoted from Labor positions to Regional Market managers. I work at the home office in Dallas, and if you know your stuff and apply your skill diligently, trust and autonomy with guiderails will be extended with little to no micromanaging. There are ample opportunities to take lead on projects or be the SME behind the scenes. Good benefits start day 1. Fabulous and effective wellness benefits built into health plan. Great people and leaders who care about their team.

Cons

401k match could be a little better but is on par with industry.

Pros

Casual work environment, fantastic team, co-workers I adore, enjoy my workspace, my boss works really hard to make their employees feel appreciated, I am respected and appreciated. Reddy Ice has a LOT of employees who have been here for decades and that's impressive. Former military are appreciated. In the past 1.5 years, I have seen many promotions and transfers within the organization, which is good. You can grow and progress in your career. Lots of opportunities to learn more about the organization as a whole. In general, the CEO wants to improve all facets of the organization. He (Lonny Warner, CEO) is approachable, transparent, friendly, boots on the ground. Numerous team building and morale building events or activities.

Cons

Not everyone has my same experience. Success at Reddy Ice is VERY much dependent upon your boss. There are many wonderful leaders at Reddy Ice and there are a number of "not so great" leaders, too. If you get a bad/poor boss, you will be miserable, and your days here will be numbered - that's not right.
