Pros

Health insurance, 401k, great website.

Cons

Compensation: If you are a good broker with even the slightest bit of intellect and experience you will be unhappy. It's an insult. Culture: cultish tech start up vibe abounds complete with nonsensical acronyms galore, bean bag chairs, ping pong tables. It's a con for a broker because we pay for all the toys, food, perks as Redfin's sole revenue source - but we never use them. You will be scrutinized, weighed, measured in every possible way. You are not a person. You are data - metrics. It's super stressful. Even the transaction - which can be emotional and unpredictable will affect your compensation via the dreaded 'survey'. I had great surveys. But still found it stressful, unfair and demeaning. They don't have your back. Why work for them? Work life balance? They tell you in training - in fact they drum it in, that it's important. But they create an atmosphere of competition and quite contradictory to their claims. You will see (quickly) they really don't care if you have a life. Management is full of clickish, passive aggressive, immature people and the only conclusion I can come to as to how they have their jobs is that it is such a young company and low standards. I have a diverse work history and have taken something good from each - but not this. It was the worst professional experience of my life.

Pros

Cutting Edge Technology. Full Benefits, paid by Redfin

Cons

24/7 non stop working. Clients written reviews/ratings dictate your compensation, potential disciplinary action by your broker/team, lead evaluation, etc. YOU MUST DRINK THE "REDFIN KOOL-AID" TO PERSERVERE IN THIS COMPANY

Pros

Lots of leads. Great website. Nice agent tool interface.

Cons

Expect to work nonstop, be on call 24-7 if you are in a new market. Expect to take care of all of your own expenses until you get reimbursed, You will be monitored by a website algorithm and be a worker bee. You will be a slave to Redfin's insatiable lust for info and are not free to be your own self. Your main concern should be to take care of the website first, and to fit the mold. There is no freedom to be a real estate agent, your more of a tour guide, and a slave to the email. Expect about 75 to a hundred emails a day, and very little compensation for what you do. Expect to put around 50 thousand miles a year on your car, and pay your own maintenance. Health Insurance is paid unless you have coverage by a spouse or mate, phone is suppose to be covered providing you are on their carriers plan, time off is non existent and you will never make more than a school teacher and work more than a teachers 180 days a year. You are expected to give of your own time after hours to do events. Unless your totally anal and keep track of every move you make, you won't make the money you should. If you work there, track every mile you drive, never do anything unless you write it down and track it, and never go the extra mile for the customer, unless you get paid for it, because it will cost you more to work here than you are compensated . Forget the favors for the customer, you will be wasting more money than you make. It makes so much more sense to set up your own website and market yourself. Redfin claims to have experts in every location, however most of their agents are newbies and managers are not even from the real estate industry. Expect a quick burnout. Expect to judged buy your customers and see those results posted publicly on the website. If your customer doesn't post a reply, your compensation will be cut in half, even if you have done a great job. Expect to be fired without warning unless you fit the Redfin Microsoft slave Ideal . Never participate in a survey form corporate, It will come back to haunt you. Great CEO, Awesome Seattle staff and I would never hold anything against them, they just are just your typical software geeks.... trying to take over the world. Not a good place to be Realtor.
