Get some job experience and get out

Pros

Benefits are relatively generous. Coworkers are generally good at their jobs and there are many people who are truly passionate about helping people. Newer high level course content is pretty cool and really pushes the boundaries of mandatory training.

Cons

Company makes a big deal about valuing data and healthy conflict, but usually if someone has made a decision about something, that's it. There are a lot of problems related to interdepartmental communication. Several department heads don't work well together which creates a lot of unnecessary work. There tends to be a lot of micromanagement of trivial issues while big issues are left to fester. As long as profits are good there's not a lot of reason for them to care. The company doesn't really seem to care about employees (hires inexperienced workers for low pay, pay remains low, no potential for advancement.) Overall it's gotten very corporate over the past couple years but it still thinks of itself as Google or Facebook.

Thanks for the review and both positive and constructive feedback. We agree on the benefits, culture, and product pieces that's for sure. We also know that healthy conflict is something we strive for and are trying to improve. The management team talks about this quite often and they won't let it fall off our radar. In regards to the piece around data it's interesting to hear that feedback. We see a lot of decisions being made but when someone produces insightful, meaningful data those decisions can easily be reversed. I'm sorry to hear you've had a different experience. If you'd like to discuss further you can always shoot an email directly to recruitment@reliaslearning.com. Thanks again for your review, it's really appreciated.

Good For New Grads

Pros

Relias is a great place for someone who has recently graduated and/or is looking for their first corporate job. The benefits are fair, and there are some great people at this company. The staff can also be very professional, most of the time.

Cons

To be blunt, the work culture has become horrible. While management preaches the value of their employees, little is ever done to act on what they preach. There are generally two days of "employee appreciation" - field day and Christmas. All other days generally are designed to extract as much work as possible from each employee until they are burned out. While the upper level management is great, they have a tendency to hire inexperienced and bad middle-management. Usually these managers have the best intentions, but are ill-equipped to manage staff. These end up being the sort who demand respect instead of earning it.

Thanks for writing the review. It sounds like you may have had a different experience with the culture in the office. Generally that's an area Relias excels at so it's disappointing that you had a different takeaway. Coming from the Recruiting team we are always looking to promote from within first. We love to see it when employees grow into their 2nd, 3rd, or even 4th position at Relias. It's rewarding for everyone involved. Thanks again for your review. We appreciate the thoroughness.

Pros

- Good experience at the beginning of your career - Most of the staff are friendly enough - The new owners are great, Bertelsmann is an awesome company

Cons

- The culture demands burnout - Conflict is difficult within the environment they have. Many managers will not be questioned, and can react emotionally to comments and concerns

Thanks for taking the time to write a review. We appreciate the compliments as well as the constructive feedback you gave. We think the people are friendly here and the culture for the most part is pretty casual. We're sorry to hear you feel a little bit different but we'd love to hear more about this. Feel free to write a more detailed response to recruitment@reliaslearning.com and we can improve things from your perspective. Suggestions are always welcomed here and we'd love to improve where our employees think we should. Thanks again for the review.
