Can't live on our salary. Don't be sidetracked by the "26.00 per hour" for those unfamiliar with the industry we are paid per FLIGHT hour, very big difference. 100 hundred flight hours per month equals close to 200 physical hours working, only being paid for the time the aircraft is moving. This program called exceed which is nothing more than a pep rally, has a backfiring effect on most of the Flight attendants as the company tries to tell you how important you are then turn around and give you a bag of candy from the dollar store and a little keychain that says republic that was made in China, we are not children, we are adults with real-life problems that require a halfway decent wage and other benefits like a humane payraise perhaps... something more than 20,000 per year. Yes we knew this when we were hired ( what we were going to make) however most of us didn't know that we would have to pay for our own uniforms, the cost of food on layovers, extra medical bills that our insurance will not pay for, because most have flown to the point of exhaustion, and their response is, " oh well we'll just give you an occurrence " . Our union is pointless, I blame most of our problems on them. I also think it's absurd that we should pay 38.00 a month in dues, when the union isn't able to answer phone calls, back their employees, makes employees cry, screams at employees. Going through round two of the new TA , the last was turned down because they wanted to only give us a 0.5 cent raise, and charge extra for union dues which would have resulted in a pay cut. If only people at this organization were fair...this could have been something special in the air.
