Pros

Every morning I look forward to what each day may bring. I started with this company over 2 years ago and what an exciting journey this business has been. This company is like nothing I've ever experienced! We are still a start up, so there will be ups & downs but the company functions like a family. They encourage innovation and new ideas. They allow you to test your ideas and therefore seeing your impact in the day-to-day is beyond rewarding. You must know how to pivot to succeed here but it only makes you a stronger individual and teammate.

Cons

We are growing at a rapid pace so sometimes that pace is too much for those not quick on their feet.

Possibly the WORST job I've ever had ...

Pros

My immediate team ruled. There were snacks.

Cons

This place is a total sham. They exploit great people and take advantage of their loyalty and work ethic only to undervalue all the work. Nothing was ever good enough, fast enough, hitting the numbers enough. The lack of true leadership and strategy made the focus shift constantly, approvals were subjective, and deadlines could change at any moment. Once, an entire campaign deadline was moved up two weeks without giving the team any notice. They were just expected to suck it up and deal. Everyone was overworked, underpaid, and then unceremoniously laid off with no warning. The leadership (or lack thereof) and HR department are cold and give off a “business is business” vibe rather than valuing the employees who would jump through hoops daily to turnaround work and get things done to meet their ever-changing goals. There was never any compassion or mindfulness around how poorly employees were being treated: we were just considered cogs in the machine put in place to fill the wallets of the higher ups and therefore expendable when their numbers weren’t met or their “strategy” changed focus. This place is not a startup, it’s a certified dumpster fire with no mission or real direction other than to “pivot” constantly in the pursuit of making as much money as possible regardless of human casualty.

Pros

Most of the people are great.

Cons

Imagine working for a company who has no idea where they’re going, how they’ll get there, or why. Working for Resident for a year, was a year of trying to connect the dots, ease dropping in the office to make sure you knew what was launching (and when it was “probably” going to launch) and trying to keep up with a group of people who didn’t want to talk to one another. The three most important things to make a company thrive are missing: communication, transparency, and gratitude for people who go above and beyond. Resident promotes a culture that (thought they) thrived on changing priorities on almost a daily basis, belittling others publicly on slack, and putting people on a pedestal who didn’t follow process or do things correctly. Employees are undervalued on every team, projects are left incomplete, and timelines are nonexistent, everything is always ASAP. Organization and communication are lacking on every project, or launch, it’s like they think organization isn’t necessary. I haven’t ever been lucky enough to work in such a toxic environment that it brought people together because of it. The blood, sweat and tears actually brought out the good in other coworkers, and I’ll have these friends for life and I am forever thankful for them.
