Chaos

Pros

Wonderful and talented people, ability to work from home

Cons

Constant chaos and fear of losing your job (consistent, regular layoffs with no rhyme or reason), poor pay and benefits considering job expectations. No work/life balance due to the insane expectations - toxic atmosphere throughout the company (If you take a well-earned vacation, expect it to be counted against you). Don't be fooled, this company is making A LOT of money and can afford to treat their employees well. Management is choosing not to.

Shady and illegal

Pros

Remote, decent pay, great team who have mostly all been laid off now.

Cons

ILLEGAL. My team lead did not like me, to the point that they started faking performance reviews attributing others mistake to me. The first few times I brought it to their attention. Then I started taking screenshots instead because I saw where it was going. The day came in which I was going to get my walking papers. I went to HR with my evidence. They did fire the manager in question on the spot, but then blatantly lied to me. The HR person said well, we still have to let you go as you are a 1099 contractor and as a business decision all contractors are being let go. The thing is, other contractors remained. New contractors were brought on board after.

Challenging & Rewarding

Pros

I have been working for Resident since the start of the company for over 3 years now. Working here has some amazing highs that will make you never want to leave. It has truly been one of the most challenging experiences as well as the greatest work experience of my career. There is truly a sense of family here if you put in the time and effort to make this place feel like home. You will never be bored or find yourself asking what do I do next. If you are looking for a place to grow your talents behind an outstanding team then this is the place to be. You will be challenged into responsibilities and new opportunities weekly. Everyone is given an immense amount of autonomy within their roles. If you truly believe in what you are doing you can not only grow your own role at this company but you will see the company grow alongside you.

Cons

There are some major challenges that come with working for such a fast-paced company. Rather than make a laundry list of all the bad I will address a few things that can be a deterrent for those who are not ready for it. 1. This is a growth-based company. That means no matter what your role is it will be measured by data and performance. Unlike other companies, you won't just have a job and a title because other tech companies have them. You earn your role here which can be very challenging for some. 2. Performance>Brand. Along with the first, this can also be a deterrent for some. The company is focused on performance and that means sometimes building a brand can take the back burner in terms of focus. This can be challenging for anyone working in a creative role from a traditional company. 3. Its a startup. If you have never worked for a startup your in for a wild ride. Startups are hard, you have to take lots of ownership around your role and responsibilities and if the company takes a hit some times that means your job will take a hit.
