Clash of the Cultures

Pros

Specific, great people. Inspiring CEO and mission.

Cons

Takeover of Nexant has been chaotic and left many folks swamped and undersupported. No upward mobility, even if one displays good performance. Seems to be an unwillingness to prune out Nexant dead wood, leaving competent people to struggle with doing the jobs of their less competent superiors.

Good place to work, needs to iron out a few kinks.

Pros

*Company cares about employee happiness and retention. *Great people to work with and for. *Work can be challenging and stimulating. *Pay and benefits are decent. *No micro management (this might be team based though). *Great work life balance. *Very diverse workplace.

Cons

***Disclaimer - Take these cons with a grain of salt, as RI seems to be still figuring out things after the recent merger with Nexant. *No structured guidance - I would say this is a pro and con. No one's breathing down your neck (most of the time), but you have to kind of shotgun a lot of things and you're still asking basic questions about things after a year working there. I'm glad I'm on a team that like answering questions, if not, I would be at a different job by now. *No clear path to promotion (Redacted - We just had a meeting with HR about new changes to promotion tracks coming next year, so this con is obsolete now. Good job RI!) *Some clients that we work for are known to be hard to work with. *Some processes are ambiguous in the first year of employment, such as path to raises, promotion, bonuses. Performance reviews are performed once a year which determines raises, promotions, bonuses, etc. Probably won't participate in it your first year around depending on when you were hired, so you're left wondering about the process as it's not really talked about. *Some Program managers can be hard to work with. *Can get overwhelmed with the amount of work we have to do sometimes.

Great Work Place

Pros

Great culture, a wide range of projects, and good benefits.

Cons

You work on multiple projects at a time and the timeframe for most of them is quite tight. Pay is comparatively lower to similar organizations.
