Pros

I was hired with Revature early 2012 (prior to changing their name to Revature). The training was great, they found me on a job board (I believe it was Monster.com) when I was having a tough time trying to find a job myself. One thing that helped me the most was not the technical training, but the soft skills training. They help you with resume building and interview preparation. I know many people talk about the marketing process however I can't say for myself that I had a bad experience. I got placed on a project within a week in Columbia, SC with the Department of Education. It was a great learning experience as my first job. I moved up pretty quickly within the development team and started code sharing ideas and presentations throughout the CIO department of DOE. The training definitely helped with my success in Columbia. I now work internally with Revature on the content platform team. I work on the training content for our online training platform (www.revature.com). Another big pro with Revature is the fact that we hire internally. Most of the trainers/content team (if not all) are former Revature graduates that went through the program.

Cons

The pay is not so great when you start out, however I do understand since I received free training. The benefits are okay, I wish I had more paid vacation days & also matching with 401(k). I only had 3 days to move all of my stuff to Columbia but luckily I didn't have any furniture or anything to move down, had to sleep on the ground for the first week before I had the opportunity to buy furniture. After the first couple of weeks of training I wish the pace stayed the same. I really wanted to learn as much as possible throughout the training but the last couple of weeks of training were a lot less rigorous.

Pros

The training with Revature is definitely an experience. It will teach you everything you need to know to be successful in the field as a developer. Coming in, I had never heard of most of the frameworks they teach. The pace is insanely fast, but that helped me on the client projects. As a client side developer, there are times where I need to learn a technology and use it within days! The Revature training projects that you work on really help cement everything you have learned. Depending on the trainer, they may be team based projects.

Cons

If you take the job, be prepared to relocate anywhere in the United States. The pace will give you a new understanding of learning and skill progression, but it is not for anyone with any type of distraction outside of the training. Also, make sure your laptop meets any required specs they send. If your laptop is not going to survive neither will you.

Pros

They provide very high quality training. I was eventually placed on a project that was challenging and satisfying.

Cons

Management is often misleading and avoids paying you whenever they can. Housing during training was not as described, I was told I could either walk or use public transit to get to the office, but I had to rely on others for a ride. Benefits are well below average for the work. No cost of living adjustment, which is important because a lot of the contracts are in high cost areas. There really isn't room for career advancement here. I feel like I'm treated more like a commodity than an employee.
