Pros

Time flexibility with some territory freedom.

Cons

At one moment in time; there was great synergy between the vision of the company, and those who carried out the mission. The company became very top heavy with attorneys and with serving top level management. The result was a mass exodus of great employees working hard being walked out the door. Management never took a moment to do some self analyzation. At the end of the day the company went from being publicly held to private status. The "word" was it was going to be better for all at hand. Seemingly, this was not the truth. As dips started to occur, the blame game came next, and not a re-group on strategy to get better as a company. The company clearly believes as sales employees, there should be "skin" in the game; this means expenses should be shared as the job is being done. The money that is needed to be an account executive is staggering. I am also taken back when RN establishes new policies, and does not vet them to be legal or otherwise. Please look another direction to save yourself great heartache.

Pros

Met some nice people over the past years.

Cons

Just left for another job - the base salary is 30% higher and they have a “real” commission plan! Here you are lucky to make $600 a month unless you have been here for more than 4 years. Only then will you make money because you inherited accounts when others leave. Nobody likes RN in the real world. 1/2 the accounts you call on despise us (tried the program and deleted) 1/4 don't qualify and 1/4 truly don't need us. It is impossible to winback a client because the exit policy is so bad and not quite accurate people end up being on the program longer than they want to. Missing emails/letters. You’d be amazed. There is absolutely no value this company brings to restaurants. We tell them we bring in NEW customers. Not true. We get paid on customers that would have gone to eat there anyway. Brilliant for RN - BAD for restaurants! There is so much paperwork to fill out. " Agreements, Amendments & Rework, Oh my!" Once you think you closed a deal it can take 2-3 weeks of back and forth to actually finalize it. We get old used and recycled laptops that barely work. It literlly takes 10 minutes to turn on and get logged in. Quite embarrasing when you are on site in front of a customer. Expected to do all calls in person and on the road - drive approx. 2000+ miles per month. Don’t get reimbursed for mileage, parking or tolls. (forget wear and tear on the car) We receive a very small car allowance whichgoes through payroll so we get taxed on it. It doesn’t cover 1/2 of our expenses. It literally “cost you money to work here" People are leaving in droves. Even the new people: more than ½ the new reps they hired since January are gone. You just don’t get it. You don’t treat your customers with respect and you treat your sales executives even worse.

Pros

We visit and get a small re-imbursement per month to eat at the restaurants on our program.

Cons

Restaurants are deleting constantly because the program is too expensive. We are not bringing in new diners they are just paying us on customers that would have dined at the restaurants anyway! They are figuring it out and deleting! Forget trying to get them back later. RN makes it so difficult to leave they burn bridges and there is no water to put out the massive fires! It is so hard to get new customers to sign up. Mostly because they heard about us and know it is expensive or gave it a try and deleted because they know it is too expensive. Member benefits are constantly reduced! Lower member benefits and higher prices does not equal sales it equals deletions. We are hearing more "No's / Not interested" than ever!!! This is an outdated and stale program. Our program is expensive and we have to charge more than we did 2 years ago. We also take money on the tax and the tip and the restaurants figure it out and don't like it. This is the worst compensation plan. When you interview people you should tell them you are going to give them a small base salary to pound the pavement and only give you back a small portion of the amount you spend on travel expenses which you will get taxed on! We put 15,000 - 20,000 miles or more on our cars a year. That is also not taken into consideration either. Gas, Parking, tolls, millage is only 1/2 covered. Marketing and Management do not do anything to help us close deals. Everything is a battle to get something approved and they make us feel as if we are doing something wrong when we try to get help or get approval for better pricing or make special requests to close an account. We are a marketing company and yet we can't even give our restaurants specific information or make changes to customize a program that would work for them.
