      Pros

      Overtime is common unfortunately at least four weeks a year are mandated 12 hour shifts with no days off Many say “pay” but leave out its weekly overtime

      Good pay, Long Hours

      Pros

      Good pay, good experience, coworkers were good, safety protocols were generally followed, you stay physically active (I put on 10 pounds shortly after leaving.), there is opportunity for promotion, will help you obtain certifications, generally not too judgmental on who they hire (though that can backfire sometimes). The pay is the best thing about working here, and its not too hard to get promoted as long as you show up and get your job done adequately.

      Cons

      Excessive work hours due to poor management practices, often in excess of 60 hours a week for months at a time switching frequently between days and overnight shifts, even during non-outage periods. Lots of health hazards: dust, ash, heavy metals, burns, rodents, etc.. It is literally a dump, so expect dirty and unhealthy conditions. Horrible work life balance, likely to cause divorces if married, if single expect to stay that way. Most guys who stay in the industry for a long time end up with many chronic health conditions.
