Pros
Contact with great customers; they make the job worthwhile. Opportunity to work with products that have the potential to be the best in their class
Cons
The senior management changes with daylight savings time. Each new manager creates ever greater stresses before being pulled. Managers have little understanding of the market nor any interest to understand it. In the process they alienate good, longtime customers. The latest is a rash of promotions taking manufacturing engineers and making them division managers. They are academically bright, but clueless as to what is going on or how to work with people. The particular branch I am in universally hates the manager. There is no respect largely because of his own arrogance - he never gives positive feedback; presents the 'business trend du jour" based on whatever seminar he just attended, completely controls any message leaving the division (very much into self promotion at expense of others) and has REALLY alienated our customers.
