Lost a good few years at this company and truly regret it

Pros

Flexible work schedule and PTO. Opportunity to occasionally work from home. Middle of the line benefits package.

Cons

Flat structure so very little to no career growth. Talent, work and innovation does not mean a better pay or promotion - only if you're well liked, you'll get somewhere , but don't count on it. Poorly executed company layoffs - during a PANDEMIC. Sad to see that a few short weeks after the company reduced workforce and disrupted the lives of many dedicated employees , they are on a hiring spree again. No diversity in executive leadership

Pros

It’s a job with insurance. Rho takes employees into account more than anywhere else I have ever worked. For example, the new building was constructed to have tons of natural light such that offices and cubes all benefit from light. Not just manager offices around the outside of each floor having windows, while everyone else gets fluorescent light. Remote working technologically supported from well before pandemic. PTO is pretty generous with no waiting period. Rho has had actual flexibility, if one's job permits and there's good communication. This is very respectful and trusting of adult employees. If you are CIS, straight, white, and attractive, you are good to go.

Cons

Rho has the same good things and bad things as all companies to one degree or another. It’s just easier to accept the negatives when there is no pretense things are otherwise. Unequal treatment and unqualified managers. Give them no more than year or two and move on.

Don't believe the hype

Pros

Because it's a "family owned company" I was given the opportunity to do tasks and learn skills beyond my education level. Many of my co-workers were of a similar age.

Cons

They talk a good game about their values. For years the Helms' prides themselves as being the company that didn't lay people off. This was after my time there, but they DID lay a bunch of people off, during a pandemic with 8 days of health insurance. Long-time employees who had believed the reason we are paid less at Rho compared to comparable positions at other CROs was because of loyalty. If someone in their inner circle doesn't like you, often because of petty, mean-girl high school drama, they allow those people to treat you like crap. I honestly did not know how toxic of a work environment it was until I left for another company. It took years for me to recover from my time as a Rho employee.
