People are very open-minded and willing to help each other in research. Faculty members are very knowledgeable in their specific fields. Labs can easily form collaborations with M.D. Anderson across the street.

Cons

Rice is small school and alumni network is small.

Great name recognition, lot of publications, good library, good music school.

Cons

Never found HR to be actively involved in anything other than paper work. Never felt welcome during my stay. Big divide between faculty and rest of the people.

Rice is located across the street from the Houston Medical Center. It has a beautiful campus with a nice running trail around the perimeter. The people who work at Rice are very easy to get along with which makes Rice a great place to work.

Cons

Sometimes Rice feels like a small business...the systems need improvement.
