Pros

Colleagues were fantastic overall with a few bad apples spoiling the culture...Many Great employees. Work was overall meaningful and impactful to client organizations and candidates.

Cons

Management has no idea what they are doing! The bottom line focus has completely overwhelmed the organization and any business strategy has been thrown to the side as a result. When I started with Right many years ago I was hired into a privately owned franchise that was an incredible place to work. Over the years change happens and some was positive and meaningful. The current condition of the organization does not allow for employee's to have needs or express themselves creatively in their work. The organization used to be a creative and teaming atmosphere and it has been transformed into a dictatorial atmosphere where any "outside of the box thinking" is met with negative feedback and retaliation. It is a requirement that you work your fingers to the bone to make your boss look good with little to no credit given. Regional leadership teams have been given the authority to run each region as they see fit with little to no oversight or direction. Many times regional leaders will tell you something and take the exact opposite action. Their ability and willingness to "run over" employees and ignore important issues demonstrates the lack of caring and lack of importance placed on employee satisfaction. When issues are brought to the attention of senior/regional leaders most go unnoticed and no action is taken. Frequently promises are broken and you "the employee" are left in a bewildering situation with no positive solution. Fingers are pointed and blame is assigned. The current matrix management system has caused a few narcissistic leaders to gain power and act as overlords or dictators. The culture of the organization allows for and even encourages going behind co-worker's backs and reporting on their performance or mistakes as survival is the name of the game. Performance measurement is largely worthless and the new compensation system allows the leaders to give financial incentives to those they like or favor versus any meaningful performance measurement that encourgaes professional growth and career development.

Pros

The illusion that was created about working for this "professional services firm" was thorough and well conceived. Once involved in the organization it was utterly amazing how 180 degrees my experience was from what I was told during the heavy recruiting process.

Cons

I've been involved in professional services for 30 years including many with the largest such firm in the world. Never has my intelligence, common sense and experience base ever been so insulted. Granted, I was new to the firm but not to consulting, client interactions and developing new relationships/business. Within my first few days I had "colleagues" wanting to read/review emails, letters, etc. I mean, I'm well educated with an MBA and seasoned in what I do. I was dumbfounded. Further to that, the territorialism I experienced, total lack of teaming, absolute need to control and manipulate was just astonishing. I was not in place two months before I entertained calls from a recruiting firm in order to find an escape. It was sad as I do think Right Management offers some great services but all that is offset with the internal egos, daily watch of the bottom line, and enabling certain people to make other's business life miserable. My sources tell me the organization is still in a state of disarray as they've had several "reorgs" since I was fortunate enought to be able to "blow the popstand" and that was not that long ago.
