Pros

There is a wide variety of work. Generally, you have lots of freedom with your schedule. Compensation is good.

Cons

The culture sucks. Management at Rimkus expects 50-60 hours of work per week from its employees. Even if you meet that expectation, you can expect to be reprimanded once a week for violating any of a million trivial rules. For example, you didn't put two spaces between all the sentences in your report. Every office does things differently. Yet, each one insists they are doing it the right way, the Rimkus way. If you have to work with different offices, you will be reprimanded, and sometimes berated, more than once a week and threatened with termination on a regular basis.

Pros

Good variety of projects. Meet new people when new projects come up. Learn how to become a forensic consultant (for future opportunities). Learn about legal system. Travel.

Cons

Unrealistic goals. Tons of rules that are mostly unenforced (until something goes wrong, and then the rules come alive - why didn't you follow rule x, and y, and z?). Only way to meet billable goals is too ignore many rules to save time - otherwise you need to bring sleeping bag. Work long hours with no OT pay. Low ethical standards. Badmouthing of management and others is rampant. Mucho foul language and 'I'm a tough-guy' talk. Lots of BS about bonuses that never seem to happen. Managers in Houston have macho redneck mentality. Generally not a good place for minorities or women. Low morale.

We regret that your stay at Rimkus did not live up to your expectations. We are working hard to improve in areas that will better engage and retain our employees. As you noted, there can be a high demand placed on certain billable employees in order to meet client needs, which can result in overtime. But that effort does not go without reward. We have a semi-annual incentive bonus plan in place, as well as an annual discretionary profit-sharing bonus. What's more, our workplace demographic grows increasingly diverse every day, resulting in our female and minority employees being placed into engineering and leadership roles faster than ever before. There's no room for a "redneck" mentality at Rimkus. We are a progressive employer who cares about the success of our company and our employees!

Great advancement opportunity. Competitive salaries. Interesting Work. Terrific coworkers. Solid benefits. Nice office Environment. Mature work force creates a more positive, drama free work place environment. Growing company. Latest technology for front line consultants.

Cons

Growing pains. Longer hours and some extra travel during catastrophic events. Older technology in support functions such as accounting. Communication between functional groups Operations-Marketing-Technical could be better at times.
