When I worked there, the organization structure led to bureaucratic inertia because an engineering team would have a cascading chain of middle-management until reaching the exec level (with each of the middle-managers managing a few people until the last layer). Product & sales had a louder voice in the company than engineering, which created opportunities for engineers to feel unappreciated and having to constantly stomach tech debt to meet swift deadlines. There was also a lot of churn – it was not unnatural for an engineering team to have its manager changed within a year. Let's hope things changed since I left.

After many Amazon alumni joined, some team's working culture becomes stressful and highly working overtime. Feels no hope in career and future. Gradually lose motivation and only feel you owe your boss every hour in 24 hours a day, every minute you have in your life is because of their mercies.
