Pros

Some really knowledgeable people here. Really like my colleagues day to day. Not really too many jerks here. You absolutely can learn from some knowledgeable people... if you are lucky.

Cons

First and foremost: If you don't live in Texas then don't even bother. It truly is a waste of time. You will always be an afterthought and never a priority. At the end of the day, despite all of the fluff and national firm talk Riveron is still just a Texas regional firm with some people in other locations. There's a semi-tongue in cheek phrase you will hear at Riveron and that phrase is "Dallas Good Old Boys Club" some also call it the "Dallas M*fia". That is who runs the show here. That is where all the power is. There is absolutely a club here and if you ain't in it then you ain't going anywhere at this firm. They have also really struggled to maintain any sort of top level talent in a few locations. Over the last few years there has been multiple periods where the Chicago and I believe New York offices have not had a single Accounting Advisory MD in their region. They would hire someone who would stay for a few months or even only weeks and then leave. What's the point of working at Riveron in Chicago if you are only going to touch clients in Dallas or Houston?
