Pros

I have been with Rivers Agency for over 10 years now and have been part of its growth from a small scrappy team of dedicated professionals to the large agency it is today. In that time, my own skills have also grown and improved immeasurably with each new project and client. I can count the number of boring days on one hand; there is always something new to learn or tackle. Management has always had great ambition and success getting and retaining new clients and exciting projects. Along with a strong core team, this has allowed the agency to grow into the powerhouse it is today with great employees, great benefits, great clients, and a great location. Despite all the growth, management has never lost the care for employees or the family feel. Management has always been very responsive to personal concerns, life commitments, and the needs of employees. Hours can be flexible around the realities of life and the benefits package continues to improve year after year. Perks such as free parking, many catered lunches, and a beautiful office come with the job. I have enjoyed teaching new team members as they come on board and learning from them as well. Employees are encouraged to get certifications, lead classes, attend conferences, and take leadership roles. You will not lack for opportunity, camaraderie, or exciting projects here.

Cons

You'll need to be comfortable managing personal deadlines and juggling projects in a fast paced environment. However, I don't think this is significantly different from any other busy agencies you'll find.

Pros

I worked for Rivers Agency for many years, and saw the company grow from a handful of creatives to a bustling Chapel Hill institution with dozens of employees. Leadership has always been really ambitious, taking on a diverse set of clients and plenty of challenging projects. I still keep in touch and maintain a good relationship with the folks at Rivers, and credit the agency with giving me with the projects and guidance that built my foundation as a marketing professional. I really enjoyed working with my team, bouncing ideas off each other and collaborating on big projects. Working at Rivers is extremely fast-paced and the projects are diverse, so I gained work experience in lots of different areas. The office space is clean and modern. The company buys lunch for employees often and hosts a great end-of-year party. Leadership was understanding and accommodating, working around personal schedules and commitments when asked.

Cons

I put late hours in occasionally, launching big projects or meeting tight deadlines... I think this is something to be expected working at an ad agency or on a marketing team. It wasn't often, and management was appreciative, acknowledging my efforts. Deadlines can be tight and the work very past-paced, so having personal organizational skills, the ability to problem-solve, and the ability to prioritize are important for success.

Pros

I started working with Rivers Agency back in 2004 as a freelancer on a major website project. My freelance work turned into a full-time position 5 years ago and I am still here enjoying the fast pace and excitement that each day brings. The team is very talented and the clients are also amazing here at Rivers. Our CEO and all of our Directors are committed to improving everyday. They respond to all requests for training and also incorporated excellent benefits package 3 years ago. We have grown a lot and changed a lot and these are consistently the best people that I have ever worked with. Having come from both corporate and University positions I can clearly see the open style of management and lack of micromanagement that some fresh out of college folks only learn and see with experience. I have a lot of opportunity to lead projects and help junior people learn. Teaching teammates is a big Rivers is an amazing place to be (office is a beautiful space too!) and I enjoy it every day.

Cons

Nothing negative to say. Maybe the fast pace, but that could be a positive as well for someone like me.
