Pros

Staff is friendly. Parking is convenient. One free meal per shift.

Cons

Unorganized, inefficient, and chaotic work environment. Nurses are overloaded with responsibility and are pushed to meet unrealistic expectations. Patient care seems to come last in what is important to the overall expectation of nurses. The charting system is by far the most out of date, inefficient and time consuming. I spend more time on the computer than I did with my patients. Also, if you do not clock out by a certain time, even if you are putting patients first, management will blame the nurse for not having time management. I saw most nurses cut corners just to clock out in time. Shift change if chaotic, as everyone rushes through SBAR to clock out on time. If you work nights, they will schedule you every other night, so no time to recover. Employees were always getting sick and working sick, as they are run down. Poor equipment. Poor management. Poor staffing. All in all an absolute nightmare.

Pros

If you are in a management position you get bonuses based on production, its a great deal. Most of the managers will work together to increase each others production numbers, they will even falsify records and lie to patients and staff.

Cons

Being a non-management staff member or a patient your concerns and or healthcare come second to profit.

Pros

The pay is excellent (but you will go through hell making it) and the benefits are good. Good retirement and the HMO has no payroll deduction.

Cons

Poor teamwork, few support staff, frequently out of ratio. Unfortunately, whatever management may want to do to improve the work environment, corporate turns around and says "no." Many nurses are burned out and call offs are a common occurrence because the staff is tired of being worked to exhaustion. Staff frequently get no lunch relief or late lunch relief (starts shift at 7, no breaks until after 3). I came here for the pay increase, but ultimately I wish I hadn't. I would have been happier with friendlier coworkers and better teamwork at my last hospital. The union is also not very supportive.
