Pros

Great amount of vacation days compared to the small number other jobs give you. Many perks for working for the University. Your salary goes up every year. Beautiful campus & hidden gem in the city!

Cons

No cons that I can think of.

Pros

HR is phenomenal; they look after employees very well. The system is set up so that the whole university protects employees. Superb benefit and amazing campus and facilities.

Cons

Salary (depending on one's position) is, as an academic/non-profit institution, not enough to support NYC living expenses. Promotion is non-existent if one's a lab staff (scientific). Research assistants appear to be treated as "temporary" employees as the majority of them are new college graduates who will go to med or grad school in 1-2 years. For a more experienced lab technician, a research assistant position is not recommended at all.

Pros

Great minds (in-house and invited lecturers), vast resources, amazing housing opportunities, stimulating environment, outstanding job benefits, (small) but gorgeous campus.

Cons

Small number of graduate students (no undergrad program) this only if you are looking for a larger-campus college experience. Independent drive is greatly encouraged, since most labs do not micro-manage students (I guess this is also a Pro).
