This is one of those companies that will make you dread going into work on a daily basis. Talk about a depressing place to work. If you’re going into interview for a job at Rocket Lawyer, be sure to take note of the negative energy that exists in the office and among the employees to determine if that’s an environment that you spend any amount of time in. Also, please use your best judgement when reading any positive reviews as those were planted by senior management to improve the ratings of the company on Glassdoor and to try to get new hires in the door. What other employees have mentioned about the founder are true. He is an egomaniacal sociopath that is unable to hand over the reigns to the employees to let them do their jobs. Rocket Lawyer employees essentially take orders from the founder and any attempt to make decisions are met with pushback and resistance. The founder will dictate what something should look like (design), what it should say (copy), and what the customer experience should be (UX). If you have a differing opinion or perspective than him, he will tell you to get on his page because your opinion is incorrect. The reality is, he is an attorney and not an entrepreneur. If, and when this company fails, the founder will only have himself to blame. The company also has a case of “shiny bright object syndrome” - constantly shifting priorities and leaving projects that have been worked on for months on the shelf - wasting valuable time and resources. - Highly political. - Lack of good leadership across the organization. - They cannot stick with a single product development process and it changes almost every quarter. - No career development or opportunities for advancement - it's a dead-end job. - Unethical customer acquisition and billing strategies. - Extremely negative work environment. - Way too many meetings and not enough time to do actual work.
