Pros

I can’t think of any pros beyond the students & families.

Cons

There’s no pay transparency in comparison to other LEAs. Pay is actually low for extremely long hours.

The students and families you mentioned are at the heart of everything we do. On pay transparency, we share compensation structures and salary bands during onboarding and throughout the year as part of our staff development, and our HR and Talent team is always available to answer questions directly. We want every staff member to feel informed about where they stand, and we're always ready to have that conversation.

Pros

This organization hires teachers who are still in the process of getting their teaching credential. I believe it helps more people be able to become a teacher. It is not easy to become a credentialed teacher in CA. I will be honest though, I think they do it out of desperation and not out of the kindness of their heart.

Cons

This organization is almost 20 years old. They have about 13 schools in San Jose and a handful in other states. This lead me to believe this is a well organized and well managed organization, but that's not the case at all. This place cares about money only. They have schools they simply are not fully funded, but at the same time they are opening up new schools. It is not right. We cater to families of color and they deserve better. If you want to apply understand that WHAT campus you are placed at matters. If you are placed at a school that is fully funded you will be happy. If not, you are going to work twice as hard and asked to juggle 2-3 position when you are only paid for 1. I want to be clear, this organization isn't struggling with money, it is a choice they are making. Upper management is choosing to openly allow their campuses struggle to when they shouldn't. One campus has zero assistant principals simply because upper management doesn't want to pay for them. So nobody gets quality coaching and their lessons hardly get feedback. How is that ok?? Again I want to be clear, some teachers are genuinely struggling and it's hard to watch upper management pay for open bars at events and rent out big halls so they can go on stage and dance. Image if they cut all of that to put the money toward what actually matters.

Pros

The students and the curriculum (CKLA and Eureka)

Cons

Ignorant, arrogant leadership - love to critique your work but unwilling/unable to step into the classroom themselves. Workload increases with little to no support, and you're told to meet expectations (or else).

Our students and the educators who show up for them every day are at the center of this work, and a five-year commitment to that is something we respect deeply. We're glad to hear about the positive feedback on our curriculum as well. We hear the frustration around leadership support and workload, and we want to be clear that teacher voice matters to us. We have structured feedback channels in place for staff to communicate directly with regional teams, and we're committed to continuing to listen and act on what we hear.
