Things you should know before you sign

Pros

The students were the sweetest. Decent pay scale.

Cons

Administrative personnel were very nasty and rude. High staff turnover. Workload is outrageous and unrealistic. Students are forced to do computer work for a big portion of the day. School is not IDEA compliant for special education services. Coaching feedback is very nit-picky and not helpful to developing students. School does not prioritize safety when it comes to weapons inside the school.

Not a Safe Place to Work

Business Outlook

Pros

Good pay and benefits; however, the pay is not equitable.

Cons

Rocketship is not a safe place to work. Unfortunately, I feel stuck here due to the job market and the need to keep my benefits. I currently work on the network support team (NeST) and I have gotten medication to help control the anxiety that has been induced by working at Rocketship. The HR team pretends to be on your side but the new leader is clearly doing what is best for the business and does not have the employees in mind. I used to be able to confidently go to our HR partners to share concerns, but now there is fear of retaliation. The executive director in TN and other members of the program team are extremely difficult to work with.

Pros

Committed to serving students and communities. Great mission.

Cons

This is no longer the organization or team that I want to be apart of or associated with professionally. Change has been difficult. New leadership has been challenging and manages to spin negativity in a way that is viewed as constructive when in reality it has broken trust and destroyed happy teams. I do not plan on returning as I have decided to work for an organization that values employees- especially those that do the hard day to day of being an educator. Leadership is not approachable and is intentionally difficult. The environment that has been created is one that is controlling and condescending. There is nothing worse than having a leader that controls through intimidation. Many see it and can’t do anything about it because they are not in the “click” that has been created.
