Because of the politics of a small, liberal, University, do not expect to move up in management unless you make the "right" connections. Also, the more money you personally have, the more likely you're going to make the "right" connections. A lot of interviewees are judged by their clothing, if you do not wear the correct brands, you will not get the job.

Union shop, run by few old timers who control most processes at the faculty level. Back-stabbing, active sabotage, and under-the-table-favors. Inconstancy in policies from administration, and very ineffective deans in most of the schools. Assistant Deans are over paid and apparently have nothing to do. Other senior administration positions are entrenched with "RI politics" and are above the fray when their misdeeds find the light of day. Significant growing pains. New President is not popular and New Provost just hired. The University is trying to find a niche, but the place is fragmented. For every one producing faculty member there are five that sit back and do nothing, including not prepping for class. The school is expensive (45k a year) and caters to the massive amounts of helicopter parents, thus making grade inflation and "special allowance" done commonplace.
