Little direction awkward communication between departments. Employees who have been there over ten years are resistant to change, un willing to orient new employees to the systems, and advocate a caste system that feeds their hostility to their peers.

Tenure process is vague, but since the place is a union shop, everyone gets tenure. Most faculty members are mediocre at best, and those that rise above the rest are often sabotaged by other faculty members. RWU hires people who will not threaten the status quo, and Admin can't figure out why the faculty are generally lazy and unproductive. Very little diversity, but the administration is really focused on the issue, although their definition is defined as people of color. Basically RWU is looking for an identity and needs to find a way to be happy with what it is (whatever that is). Heavy teaching loads (4-3) and summer pay (overload) is low. The school has been sued several times (most recently for gender discrimination), and administration turns over frequently. Admin has obvious disdain for faculty (not surprising since the few strong faculty members are over shadowed by the poor ones) and has a hard time changing the culture because the union fights change.
