Scheduling is a nightmare! Floating to other units to work is an issue and sometimes you're mandated to work a different unit which you know nothing or little about and left with little or no help to get through the shift. Pretty much impossible to get any time off even for urgent situations. Scheduling is always sending emails about open shifts and it seems excessive at times and it's easy to feel pressured to pick up extra hours or you're treated differently it seems if you are not willing to pick up extra hours. Things happen here that make no sense and it leaves staff confused and out of the loop, sometimes communication can be very minimal or non-existent at all about things and having that communication I feel would make things a lot better. Unanswered questions or sometimes you'll send an email and get no response at all which doesn't help staff at all. Management many times seems cold and aloof and not aware of what is actually happening on the units and the needs of the units. Urgent needs not being addressed by management and sometimes it seems management does not even know what the actual needs are and what needs to occur. Management many times appears distant and unconcerned with the needs of the staff. Staff burnout and overwhelming work load many times. More to do than there is time available on a shift. Mental health of the staff suffer many times (it appears based on my own observation and experience) due to having nobody to talk to about issues and concerns and nobody to address those concerns, along with burnout and excessive workload. Also appears to be discrimination going on (just my opinion and how it appears to me based on my own experience). Many times I'm left out of the loop and treated as an outsider on my own unit. Some not-so-great coworkers. I find many times I'm treated differently or harassed or bullied and made fun of by my coworkers, and not accepted. Sometimes I can work an entire shift and hardly if any of my coworkers that shift will even say a word to me at all. A very cold experience many times for me working at Rogers anymore. High turnover. Rogers is always needing more staff. More units than what they have staff to cover. Fear of bringing issues forward to staff due to fear of retaliation. Work-life balance is pretty much non-existent (my opinion). Difficult to leave work at work and not take some issues and concerns with you when you leave to go home at the end of your shift. Easy to let this kind of work affect home life due to issues not being handled promptly and effectively by management at work. Lack of recognition for all the hard work put in by staff. Easy to feel taken for granted and not recognized for hard work and dedication. Gaslighting and other psychological games that management seems to play with staff sometimes does seem to be an issue at this place also which contributes to the mental health of the staff falling apart. Cliquish environments many times, easy to feel left out and/or bullied.
