Pros

Management's overall strategy is on target - they understand their targeted consumer - although jumping in and out of categories is confusing to the customer

Cons

They have unrealistic work/life balance expectations at the corporate level Be careful who you align yourself with - it continues to be a very political atmosphere with many undercurrents and cliches to be navigated. Not for the neophyte.

Thank you for your review. The culture at Ross is humble, strategic, growth-oriented, and collaborative. Every department is different, but those core traits remain true throughout the business. Being described as a "political atmosphere" is not how we want our culture to be perceived, so your comments will be shared with the proper parties. Thank you!

Pros

You can move up the ladder fairly quickly... and the people are great! they have great product for cheap! and that helps the community to be fashionable..

Cons

PAY, is horrible and they expect good workers to work for free or close to it. and management recognition from d.m. ect they put too much on new managers who have never ran a ross let alone a "troubled ross" and they get too stressed and end up failing...

Pros

The management was very understanding of my situation as a working mom, and worked with me when I may have had scheduling issues. At one point I had a family issue come up and I was allowed to take a week off with short notice. They also put an emphasis on employee ideas to make things better, which made me feel like part of the bigger picture.

Cons

Sometimes the customers bordered on the unsavory side so I had to always look out for theft, which may be an issue that all retail stores unfortunately must deal with. There was a definate pattern of new hires not lasting, but the employees who were long term were there for years.

We hear you, thanks for sharing. Difficult customers can be a challenge for all retailers. We do train all Associates on how to handle and diffuse difficult customer situations, create an environment were theft is minimized, and ensure that other customers are not negatively impacted. We work hard to make sure our pay and benefits are competitive in all markets. We take all feedback seriously and have shared your comments with our compensation team for further evaluation.
